“Songs of a Distant Sky” is a photographic documentary I created in 2023, focusing on the Kyrgyz Highlands. Ever since my childhood, I have been drawn to remote places, a fascination that led me to explore the lives of nomadic communities in Kyrgyzstan. Together with a close friend who grew up there, we ventured into many secluded areas, allowing me to capture the endless expanse and untouched beauty of the landscape. The aim of the project was to illuminate the lives of these lesser-known communities nestled among imposing mountains and their deep connection to the land. Kyrgyzstan has proven to be one of the most fascinating places I’ve photographed—a hidden gem that often goes unnoticed. Upon discovering that only a handful of photo series had ever documented this region, leaving its people and culture largely forgotten, I was inspired to take on a personal project. This involved capturing the captivating landscapes and the individuals who inhabit them, using exclusively 120-film to convey the depth and richness of the experience.
